When your children ask their parents tomorrow, and say: What do they mean?
these stones? You will tell your children: Israel passed through this Jordan on dry land. Joshua
4:21-22

They were to remind everyone who passed by that the Lord had stopped the waters.
so that his people Israel could cross over to the promised land.

As time went on, Israel had trouble remembering what God had said.
had done for them. Maybe they were too busy enjoying the
blessings of the promised land plus the twelve stones at Gilgal were a

has done for us. Maybe we are so busy enjoying the

So that they may put their trust in God and not forget the works of God;
and keep his commandments. Psalm 78:7
