“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.” Psalm 46:1–2
There are moments in life when everything seems to be shaken up. Unexpected news, illness, family difficulties, or simply a period we don't understand can make us feel that what seemed certain is no longer so.
Psalm 46 reminds us of a truth that brings peace to the heart: Even though everything around us changes, God remains.
Being unwavering doesn't mean we'll never be afraid, never cry, or never go through difficult times. It means that, even in the midst of the storm, we know where our safety lies. God remains our refuge when we need protection, our strength when we feel we can't go on, and our help when we don't know what to do.
Perhaps you are going through a difficult time right now. You don't have to face it relying solely on your own strength. You can run to God and rest in Him. Life can change in an instant, but it cannot change God's character or the promises He has made.
When everything shakes, stand firm. Your security is not in the circumstances, but in a God who never changes.
