“It is time to wake up from sleep.” Romans 13:11
There are times when a warning can change everything, but only if we choose to listen to it.
In Romans 13:11–14, the apostle Paul sounds a spiritual alarm: “It’s time to wake up from our slumber.” He is not talking about physical sleep, but about that spiritual state in which we gradually lose sensitivity towards God, we stop feeling urgency for our mission and live as if we always had plenty of time.
The reality is that with each passing day we are getting closer to the fulfillment of our hope. “The night is far gone; the day is at hand.” Romans 13:12.
Our hope as believers must be placed in Jesus Christ and the promise of his return. Therefore, waiting for Christ does not mean simply gazing at the sky. It means living in preparation.
Paul calls us to cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Perhaps there is something God has been dealing with in our hearts: resentment, unforgiveness, pride, secret sins, or simply spiritual indifference. We must not continue saying, “Someday I will change.” The Word reminds us that it is time to wake up.
Today the call is not simply about abandoning certain things. Paul ends with a much deeper invitation: “Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ” Romans 13:14.
The question is not only: What do I need to let go of?, but rather: How much of Christ can others see in my life?
While we await His return, we still have a mission to fulfill. There are people who need to hear the gospel, lives that need to know the hope of Christ, and a generation that needs to see a Church awakened, filled with the Holy Spirit, and committed to its calling.

Are there any areas of my spiritual life where I need to awaken?
Don't put it off until tomorrow. Today is the time to seek God, walk in holiness, reach others with the gospel, and live prepared for Christ's return.

Wake up. The night is far gone. The day is at hand. Christ is coming.
