And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice…
1 Samuel 15:22
The Bible teaches that God made man perfect, but mankind made the decision to do his own will rather than God's will. The Bible calls this disobedience.
Sovereign authority is not an easy concept to grasp. From an early age, children find creative ways to not obey their parents' instructions.
We adults tend to do the same thing, for example, when we exceed the speed limit.
But sovereign means sovereign and obedience means obedience even when we disagree or don't understand.
Why is God pleased with obedience? Because obedience is a reflection of God's love in us and at the same time confirms his lordship over our lives.
Possibly God has great plans for his life as he had for Saul, but the disobedience reached such a degree that he said, "God regrets having made Saul king."
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:3
